Project outcomes shaped by listening, craft, and restraint

Three recent builds that show how restoration choices, cabinet behavior, and voicing decisions translate into lived listening.

Tannoy Devon Restomod Pair

The brief was simple: keep the original warmth, but recover transient precision for chamber recordings and small-ensemble jazz. We rebuilt crossover tolerances, corrected cabinet damping, and re-voiced for lower listening fatigue across long sessions.

“I stopped changing tracks to test them and started playing full albums again.”

JBL L100 Anniversary Calibration

This commission focused on mid-band honesty for mixed media use: vinyl evenings and mastering reference checks. Driver matching, phase alignment, and subtle port tuning delivered a more coherent center image without flattening the speakers personality.

“Voices now sit exactly where they shouldsolid, natural, and unforced.”

Custom Birch Ply Nearfield Build

Built for a compact studio where translation mattered more than spectacle. We designed a controlled low-end profile, hand-finished the cabinet joinery, and voiced the top end for long editing days with minimal ear fatigue.

“They reveal detail without sounding clinicalI trust decisions faster now.”
